Jalankote/Pastel Pattern by Allegra Waraka
Hi. This is one of the crochet that I made. This called Jalankote, a traditional cuisine from South Sulawesi in Indonesia. Also known as pastel in Indonesia or Curry Puff in Malaysia, made from spring roll skin, rice noodle, and some vegetables. If you have plan to come to Indonesia, this is one of the recommended food that you have to try.
This time, Id like to show you my work on making a curry puff crochet. I am using srap yarn from previous project with 3,5mm hook. Pretty satisfying. If you want to own this little cutie, all you need is a scrap yarn, stuffing and hook (you want to adjust the size with yarn that you will use). Here's the tutorial. Scroll down!
Ch: chain
dc:double crochet
inc: increase
slst: slip stitch
sp: space
How to make it:
R1: Ch 3, 12dc in magic ring, sl st (12)
R2: Ch 2, dc inc in every stitch, sl st (24)
R3: Ch 2, dc, inc, sl st (36)
R4: Ch 2, 2dc, inc. sl st (42)
R5: Ch 2, 3dc, inc, sl st (60)
This time we are going to fold the circle, and start to work on the edge, to another edge (look at the picture)
R6: ch3, skip 2sp, sc, turn, place 4sc at ch3, turn, then sc 2 times in each space
repeat R6 until you get the near of the end, do the stuffing and continue R6 until you close all the space. It should look like this:
After you finish the R6, fasten off and hide the leftover yarn with tapestry needle. Optional: you can insert the keychain or something similar in the corner using tapestry needle.
I found this pattern from Allegra Waraka's channel on youtube. If you prefer to watch the video for more explanation, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X055fbzCCs
